Portage Park: 204 Street & 51 Avenue

Bethany here: There's a place for little kids and big kids both pretty well safe.the big kids place has lots of bars to climb so if your a fan of gymnastics you will find that amusing. A little graffiti not much. There's wood chips on the ground so I would keep your kid's shoes on.The park has very pretty trails you can walk on, there's a creek so I'd suggest you stay by your kids. This park is off of the greenbelt area that runs through the centre of Langley, so it's a great place to walk (or bike) to from another area. There's a basketball court if you're not interested in the playground. The little kid playground is made of plastic and the big kid playground is made of metal, bring a bucket - there's wood chips on the ground and on the little kid playground there's a tube you can dump wood chips down.
There are bathrooms, but when we looked they were locked.
There are some nice shady places and a cool tree that had 6 or 7 trunks all together and your kids might like playing house in it. There was one stump that looked like it was a little chair, and there were areas inside that could be rooms.
When we looked, there was broken glass by a big rock beside the park, and there were some beer bottle lids found on the ground, so keep your eyes open to make sure things are safe.
There were two benches that we could see, one in the shade and one in the sun.

Overall, I'd give it 3 stars out of 5. I probably wouldn't go back, I'd rather explore somewhere else.

Matthias here:

There are lots of nice trails that can be used as short cuts to Portage Park.
Bring water because there are no water fountains in the Park.
